The fine print, in plain words
The basics of using Hearing Buddy, what we promise, and what we don't.

Acceptance of terms
By downloading or using Hearing Buddy, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
Use of the app
Hearing Buddy is provided as a personal communication aid. You agree to use the app only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the app complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including any laws around recording or transcribing other people.
Buying through the App Store
Hearing Buddy offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through the App Store. Buddy+ can also be bought on this website — that path is covered in the next section.
Billed to your Apple ID at confirmation. Your plan renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel anytime under Manage Subscription in the Hearing Buddy Settings tab, or in your App Store account. Continuing means you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Subscription prices, the length of each renewal period, and the features included are shown on the in-app purchase screen before you confirm. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
App Store purchases are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms of sale. Refunds for those are handled by Apple through your App Store account.
Buying Buddy+ on this website
Buddy+ can also be bought here on hearingbuddyapp.com. The seller (merchant of record) is Krager Labs LLC, 1255 NW 9th Ave, Portland, OR 97209. Checkout is run by RevenueCat, our billing partner, and card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers.
What we sell here: monthly and annual Buddy+ subscriptions, occasional introductory offers (like a discounted first week), and Buddy+ Lifetime, a one-time purchase. The exact price, what it covers, and whether it renews are always shown before you confirm.
Buying on the web unlocks Buddy+ inside the iOS app: after checkout, RevenueCat emails you a one-time redemption link. Install the current version of Hearing Buddy from the App Store, tap that link on the same iPhone or iPad, and Buddy+ switches on. Links expire after a short time and a fresh one is emailed automatically — if you get stuck, email [email protected] and we'll sort it out.
Subscriptions renew until you cancel
A Buddy+ subscription bought on this website renews automatically at the price shown when you signed up, until you cancel. An introductory offer converts to the regular price at the end of the intro period unless you cancel first — the intro price, the regular price, and when the change happens are all shown before you confirm.
To cancel, use the link in your receipt email from RevenueCat, or email [email protected] with the word “cancel” and we'll do it for you. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep Buddy+ through the end of the period you've already paid for. For annual plans we send a reminder email before each renewal.
Buddy+ Lifetime
Buddy+ Lifetime is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of the app — for as long as Hearing Buddy is offered and supported. It covers every Buddy+ feature, including ones we add later, on the Apple account you redeem it with. It is for one person, is not transferable, and needs a compatible iPhone or iPad to use.
Our 14-day money-back promise
Every purchase made on this website comes with a 14-day money-back promise, including introductory offers and Buddy+ Lifetime. Email [email protected] within 14 days of your purchase, from the address you used at checkout or telling us which address you used, and we'll refund you in full to your original payment method — no questions asked. We issue refunds within 5 business days; your bank may take another 5–10 business days to show it.
This promise is in addition to any rights you have under law, and it doesn't limit them. Full detail on the refunds page. Purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple, not by us.
Apple Licensed Application EULA
The Hearing Buddy iOS app is licensed, not sold, to you. Your use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of these terms Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Accuracy of transcription
While we strive for accuracy, speech recognition technology is not perfect. Hearing Buddy should not be relied upon for critical, legal, or medical communications where accuracy is essential. Always verify important information through other means.
Intellectual property
Hearing Buddy and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Lilly Seay and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Limitation of liability
Lilly Seay shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the app.
Changes to terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. If we make material changes we will notify users through the app or by updating this page, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
