Overview

Hearing Buddy is designed with privacy at its core. All speech recognition and language processing in the iOS app happens entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your audio or transcripts to any servers. The sections below cover both the iOS app and this website.

On-device processing

Hearing Buddy uses Apple's on-device speech recognition (SpeechAnalyzer) for live captions. All audio processing happens locally on your iPhone, Apple Watch, or Mac. Your voice data never leaves your device.

Some features rely on small open-source language models that also run entirely on your device. These models are bundled with the app and operate without any network connection. Like speech recognition, none of the text they process is sent to a server.

Website analytics

This website (hearingbuddyapp.com) uses Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic and improve the site. Google Analytics may collect anonymized data such as pages visited, approximate location (city or region), device type, browser, referrer, and IP address. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by enabling "Do Not Track" or similar privacy settings in your browser.

In-app analytics

The iOS app may collect anonymous, aggregated usage metrics (such as which features are used and crash reports) to help improve the experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users and never includes audio, transcripts, or conversation content. You can disable analytics in the app settings.
