  • Rechargeable and disposable-battery styles, all with telecoil access
  • Official CROS PX support — the newer Intent lacks this
  • Strong wind-noise performance, outperforming competitors in testing

Worth knowing

  • Superseded by Intent (2024) and, for battery styles, Verit (2026)
  • No LE Audio or Auracast — older MFi/ASHA Bluetooth only

  • Mediocre music-streaming ratings in HearingTracker testing

want current-generation technology, Auracast readiness, or hands-free calling on an Android phone

Our Take

Released in February 2023, the Real was Oticon's top-of-the-line hearing aid before the Intent arrived, and it's still being sold in 2026 at wind-down prices of $2,798 to $3,198 per pair. What stands out now is the flexibility: four styles across RIC and BTE, both rechargeable and disposable-battery options, telecoil on every model, and a Deep Neural Network that scans your surroundings 500 times a second. Its wind-noise handling beat competitors in testing — worth noting if you spend real time outdoors.

Bluetooth is where the Real's age shows first: it runs the older MFi/ASHA stack — no LE Audio, no Auracast — and hands-free calling only works on iPhone. Android phones can stream media, but you'll hold the phone for calls, and music streaming earned mediocre ratings in HearingTracker testing. Step back and the pattern is the same across the board: the Intent replaced this platform in 2024, the Verit takes over its battery styles in 2026, and availability is winding down.

Even so, there's a real case for buying one. If you have single-sided deafness, the Real is the family Oticon's CROS PX transmitter officially pairs with — the newer Intent doesn't support it. And against peers like the Phonak Audéo Infinio ($2,498–$4,598) or ReSound Vivia ($2,598–$4,098), runout pricing puts flagship-level sound within reach at the low end of the prescription market. Just move soon, and confirm fit and availability with your hearing care professional.

Oticon Real Questions

It can be, if the price is right. The Real sells for $2,798–$3,198 per pair at runout pricing — clearance-level cost for what was Oticon's flagship in 2023. You still get the Deep Neural Network sound processing, strong wind-noise handling, telecoil, and IP68 durability. What you give up is newer Bluetooth — no Auracast — and availability is winding down as newer models take over. If you need CROS support or disposable batteries, it's an especially strong value.

The Real ($2,798–$3,198 per pair) is a 2023 previous-generation model at discounted prices, while the Phonak Audéo Infinio ($2,498–$4,598) is a current-generation line. The Real's advantages are official CROS PX support for single-sided deafness, both rechargeable and disposable-battery styles, and tested wind-noise performance. Its drawbacks are older MFi/ASHA Bluetooth and Apple-only hands-free calling. If you want the newest platform, the Infinio makes more sense; if you want proven sound for less, the Real does.

Partly. The Real streams audio to both iPhone and Android using MFi and ASHA Bluetooth, and both platforms use the Oticon Companion app. However, hands-free calling — where the hearing aid microphones pick up your voice — is Apple-only. On Android you can stream calls and media to the aids, but you'll need to speak into the phone itself. There's no LE Audio or Auracast support on this model.

Both options exist, which is increasingly rare. The miniRITE R and miniBTE R are rechargeable and run a full day per charge. The miniRITE T and miniBTE T use disposable size 312 or 13 batteries and run about a week per battery — handy if you travel often or don't want to depend on a charger. All four styles include a telecoil and carry an IP68 rating, and the lineup fits mild to severe hearing loss.
