Starkey's Edge AI launched in October 2024 as the company's flagship, and while the newer Omega AI has since taken that title, it's still widely sold — often discounted, at $2,998 to $6,000 per pair. It pairs an always-on deep neural network with up to 51 hours of rechargeable battery life, in RIC and custom in-ear styles for mild to severe hearing loss.

Our Take

Launched in October 2024 as Starkey's flagship, the Edge AI built its reputation on two things: genuinely strong noise performance — backed by a HearAdvisor 'A' SoundGrade and a 2025 Expert Choice award — and battery life few rivals approach. Up to 51 hours on a single charge, even with a deep neural network running full-time, is the kind of number that ends battery anxiety for good. The tiny 2.3-gram mRIC R and health extras like fall detection, balance assessment, and 71-language translation round out a well-built package.

Since Omega AI arrived in October 2025, street prices have settled around $2,998–$3,198 per pair — below Omega AI's typical $3,398–$4,798 — but clinic tiers can still run to $6,000, and at that number the discount argument collapses. What the lower price buys is last year's chip: the G2 Neuro Processor instead of Omega AI's newer G3, which means no DNN 360 processing and no Gen AI assistant. Edge Mode+, its strongest noise program, doesn't kick in on its own — you have to turn it on. Reviewers have also knocked streaming sound quality over the MFi connection, it holds only one Bluetooth connection at a time, and if you want a BTE or a truly invisible IIC, Starkey doesn't offer either in this lineup.

Whether it adds up depends on the quote in front of you. At street prices, this is one of the better values in prescription hearing aids right now — award-grade noise handling and custom in-ear styles for less than most current flagships ask, and less than the $3,598–$4,898 Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio. At a $6,000 clinic tier, the case fades and Omega AI deserves a fresh look. Either way, your hearing care professional can confirm it suits your hearing loss and lifestyle — and a proper trial will tell you more than any spec sheet.

Starkey Edge AI Questions

For many people, yes — largely because of price. Since Omega AI replaced it in October 2025, street prices have dropped to roughly $2,998–$3,198 per pair, below Omega AI's typical $3,398–$4,798 — though clinic tiers can run up to $6,000, where the savings disappear. You still get award-winning noise performance, up to 51 hours of rechargeable battery, and Bluetooth LE Audio with Auracast. What you give up is the newer chip: Omega AI's DNN 360 processing and its Gen AI assistant.

Omega AI took over as Starkey's flagship in October 2025, bringing a newer G3 chip, DNN 360 processing, and a Gen AI assistant that Edge AI lacks. Battery won't decide it — both carry the same 51-hour rating. The honest difference is price and processor: Edge AI's street price runs about $2,998–$3,198 per pair versus Omega AI's typical $3,398–$4,798, though Edge AI clinic tiers can climb to $6,000, and at that point Omega AI is the obvious pick. If your Edge AI quote sits at the street end, it's the value choice; if the two land close together, go newer.

The rechargeable RIC RT lasts up to 51 hours per charge — industry-leading for a prescription hearing aid running an always-on neural network. The smaller mRIC R runs about 41 hours, and the ITE and ITC R models about 42. Real-world life depends on how much you stream. If you'd rather skip charging entirely, Starkey also offers RIC 312 and CIC versions that use disposable batteries.

Yes. The Edge AI supports Bluetooth LE Audio, and Auracast broadcast audio is enabled through a firmware update. It also offers Google Fast Pair and hands-free calling with both iPhone and Android. Two limitations worth knowing: it connects to one Bluetooth device at a time, and some reviewers have criticized streaming sound quality over the MFi connection — so test streaming during your trial period.
